The Lightweight Robot Arm PANDI-1

PANDI-1 is a six-axes, modular construction, electric servo-driven robot with a 2-kg payload. PANDI-1 is DESIGNED and PROTOTYPED at the Intelligent Control Laboratory for installation on a mobile platform for performing a variety of applications: picking and placing objects, material handling, machine load/unload, parts transfer, etc. Offering a passively changeable structure, the PANDI-1 can be easily reconfigured and tuned by the user for a specific workspace from reaching the floor or height over 2 meters when on mobile platform.

Features

  • - High speed
  • - Large payload-to-weight ratio
  • - Space-saving design
  • - Precise movement
  • - Lightweight design
  • - Flexible mounting
  • - Extremely low maintenance
  • - Advanced open architecture controller
  • - Small control cabinet
  • - Reduced cabling
  • - Simple commissioning

The simple architecture, mechanical construction and control system make PANDI-1 and PANDI-2 an excellent tool for research and education in the field of robotics and automation. Due to the versatility, PANDI-1 and PANDI-2 fit many manufacturing industries and covers wide range of applications such as: loading and unloading, integration into lines for parts handling and pick & place operations, dispensing of glue, sealant or other materials, endurance-testing of components, replacing small end-of-the-line palletizers in high-production industries like cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food industry, etc., with flexibility unmatched by non-robotic machinery.
